In 2026, Muwezeshe Mama took on the responsibility of building a library for Haraka Primary School. This will be the first library since the school was established!

The project began after two families visited the school and discovered that the children had no dedicated space to read or borrow books. Both families are members of the Muwezeshe Mama charity group in Switzerland, which made it possible to bring this important need to the attention of our team and turn the idea into action.

From Renovation to a New Beginning

Initially, we discussed renovating an empty room at the school (see second picture below ). However, after assessing the building, we realised that it was more than 40 years old and that renovation would pose significant risks.

We therefore made the decision to start from scratch and build a new library consisting of two rooms — from laying the foundation to preparing the space for shelves filled with books.

Today, thanks to your incredible generosity, donations, and support at our fundraising events and markets, we have a building that is ready for the next stage: furnishing it and filling it with learning materials!

Help Us Complete the Library!

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported this project. Your contributions have helped us come this far, and we are now approaching the final stage.

Before we can officially hand over the library to the school, we still need tables, chairs, bookshelves, and plenty of books. We also hope to provide educational games and learning materials such as Kapla, building blocks, memory games, and puzzles to help pupils develop their creativity, knowledge, and problem-solving skills.
